Home to the graduate community of Merton College, Oxford

The Middle Common Room (MCR) represents both a physical space within the College as well as our community itself.

Welcome to our MCR!

The MCR is composed of postgraduates, fourth-year undergraduates and mature students affiliated with the College. In addition to occupying one of the oldest (13th-century) and most impressive rooms in Oxford’s first college, we are foremost a diverse community that aims to make every MCR member feel welcome during their time at Oxford.

Merton’s MCR provides each members with a set of resources unique to Merton graduates. Whether it be working in one of our three excellent libraries, socialising at a wine and cheese tasting, cruising down the Cherwell in the Merton punts, mingling with members of other colleges at exchange dinners, working up a sweat on the Sports Field or College Gym or simply catching up with a friend over coffee in the MCR, there is something for everyone!

Merton College boasts a long history, beautiful buildings and gardens, academic excellence and much more. But we are first and foremost a home away from home. Beyond academic success, the MCR is a space in which lifelong friendships are forged.

Take some time to look around and see what we have to offer. Do not hesitate to contact any of our current MCR Committee Members if you are not able to find what you are looking for. We hope to see you soon!
